MRS Support the Millennium Green Trust at First World War Memorial Event

On Saturday the 10th November 2018, organisations and the public gathered for Millennium Green Trust’s Three Oaks planting ceremony. The tree planting event – Three Oaks to Remember paid respects to those who lost their lives in the First World War, and saw Celebrant Andrea Garlick explain the devastating effects of the war which ended 100 years ago on the day of the ceremony.

RAF Air Cadets led the procession and the three oak trees were then ceremonially planted by the Millennium Green Trust’s patron, Sir Alan Meale, Margaret Davy (senior citizen) and Dylan Coupe, a pupil from a local school. Dylan had previously won a school competition for creative writing, which allowed him to write and read out a refreshing poem on warfare once the trees had been successfully planted.

How MRS Training & Rescue Helped

Our specialist health and safety equipment has had many uses, but this recent tree planting service marked a new first and our team at MRS in Mansfield were delighted to support the Mansfield Woodhouse Millennium Green Trust in the Three Oaks to Remember event. The MRS basket stretcher was used to carry the trees to the planting area.

The Spencer Basket Stretcher

basket stretcherOur lightweight basket stretcher, that assisted the RAF air cadets with the transportation of three oak trees to the planting area, is made from a robust plastic which enables it to be durable and flexible: making it ideal for rescue operations in mines, at altitude and in water.

Reflection Period

Soon after the three oak trees were planted, a moment of reflection for the people who were lost in the war took place, including the many people in the Mansfield Woodhouse community who were affected. A peaceful song: ‘Flowers of the Forest’ was played by a lone piper in this time.

Our MRS team at the Mansfield branch were thrilled to be a part of such a beautiful Memorial Day and couldn’t have been happier to be able to help where necessary.

You can read more about the Three Oaks planting ceremony on the Mansfield Woodhouse Millennium Green’s website.

The Trustees wish to thank everyone who has contributed financially or provided support or given practical help to enable the Millennium Green Trust to organise this event. – Millennium Green Trust.

Great course, great venue, so much better than using that crappy portable tunnel thing, get rid of it. Instructor was so nice, put you at ease, great presentation work and made it easy to follow. Very enjoyable.

I attended Emergency First Aid Course. The trainer Dale was fab, made everything easy to understand and great knowledge too. Good to practice CPR, Defib and bandaging techniques too. Thanks very much - will definitely be back again when due.
