MRS Training & Rescue Commits to the Real Living Wage

We are thrilled to announce that MRS Training & Rescue has earned accreditation as a Living Wage Employer, affirming our commitment to fair compensation and the well-being of our workforce.

What Does it Mean to Be a Living Wage Accredited Employer?

The Living Wage, distinct from statutory minimum and prescribed living wages, is meticulously calculated to correspond with the true costs of living. It serves as a voluntary benchmark for employers, ensuring that their employees earn a wage sufficient for a decent standard of living. Embracing this ethos, MRS Training & Rescue joins the cohort of responsible businesses championing equitable compensation practices.

Effective immediately, every individual contributing to our team will receive a minimum hourly wage of £12 across the UK, with an elevated rate of £13.15 for our colleagues in London. These rates, current as of May 13, 2024, significantly surpass the government's prescribed National Living Wage of £11.44 per hour for individuals over the age of 21.

Happy to Be Part of the Living Wage Movement

Since its inception in 2011, the Living Wage movement has catalysed tangible change, bolstering the livelihoods of over 460,000 workers and injecting £3 billion into the pockets of low-income earners.

This commitment resonates with our core values at MRS Training & Rescue - where we regard our people as the cornerstone of our success.

Stuart Hoult, CEO of MRS Training & Rescue, says: "We have chosen to become a Living Wage employer because we believe people are the heart of our business; recognising and rewarding them in our view is not just the right thing to do but also key to success."

Our alignment with the Living Wage Foundation reflects a shared vision for social responsibility and economic justice.

Katherine Chapman, Director of the Living Wage Foundation, commends our decision, stating: "We’re delighted that MRS Training & Rescue has joined the movement of over 14,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on."

"In joining this cohort, MRS Training & Rescue stands alongside esteemed organisations such as Burberry, Barclays, and Everton Football Club. These organisations recognise that fair compensation is not merely a legal obligation but a moral imperative. We echo this sentiment wholeheartedly, affirming our belief that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay."

I came here for my STCW 5 day training course and had a great time. Every single member of staff I interacted with has been incredibly friendly and helpful. The facilities and equipment here are all top notch and the trainers all have expert level knowledge in their subject matter. I had training from Matt Baxter and Henry Howes, these guys make the course consistently fun and engaging. You’re in safe hands at MRS Southampton.

Great experience doing my STCW courses with MRS - Matt and Henry were great and the whole team were very friendly. Special credit to Matt: amazing teacher and keeps it fun while also educational. The courses were very well formatted and executed (especially with the practical elements eg. Survival Training and Fire Fighting). A very informative and efficient week, thank you so much! :)
