Soaring Above Safety Risks: How Drone Technology Reduces the Need for Working at Height

Working at height has always been a significant concern in the workplace, posing various risks to employees and businesses alike. According to the latest Health and Safety Executive (HSE) statistics, industry fatalities have skyrocketed by a staggering 55% in the past year.

Tragically, falls from height continue to be the leading cause of death in workplaces. Hwever, there is hope on the horizon - the emergence of drone technology is revolutionising workplace safety and reducing the need for working at height in certain instances.

The Alarming Rise of Workplace Fatalities

The recent surge in workplace fatalities reported by the HSE serves as a stark reminder that traditional approaches to inspections and maintenance are far from foolproof. The risks associated with working at height are ever-present and demand innovative solutions that can enhance safety measures.

Introducing Drone Technology: A Game-Changer for Workplace Safety

Drone technology has taken industries by storm, providing a safer, cost-effective, and efficient alternative for inspections and surveys. MRS Training & Rescue is proud to be at the forefront of this technological revolution, offering state-of-the-art outdoor drone technology that can significantly reduce the risks associated with working at height.

How Can Drones Improve Workplace/Working at Height Safety?

Drones play a pivotal role in improving workplace safety by eliminating the need for workers to physically access hazardous areas. Instead of climbing ladders, scaffolding, or using elevated platforms, drones can be deployed to conduct inspections and surveys with ease.

Changing routine inspections from this:

When Can Drones Be Used?

Drones are versatile tools and can be used in various scenarios to enhance workplace safety. They are particularly valuable for routine inspections and maintenance tasks that would otherwise require expensive scaffolding to be erected — lowering risk to workers and reducing cost significantly.

What Data/Imagery Can Drones Capture?

Our advanced drone technology allows us to capture high-resolution imagery and collect essential data with precision. From aerial photographs and videos to thermal imaging and 3D mapping, drones provide comprehensive and invaluable insights for informed decision-making.

When Can a Drone Be Used (Internal/External)?

While drones are widely known for their external applications, they can also be employed effectively for internal inspections. Equipped with obstacle avoidance and advanced stabilisation systems, indoor drone inspections can be conducted safely and efficiently in confined spaces and hard-to-reach areas.

The MRS Training & Rescue Difference

At MRS Training & Rescue, we have harnessed the power of drone technology to benefit our clients across various industries. Our outdoor drone inspections have not only reduced health and safety risks but also saved our clients thousands of £s and valuable time that would have been spent on traditional working-at-height methods.

With our skilled and certified drone pilots, we guarantee precise data collection and rapid results, all while ensuring the utmost safety and compliance.

I came here for my STCW 5 day training course and had a great time. Every single member of staff I interacted with has been incredibly friendly and helpful. The facilities and equipment here are all top notch and the trainers all have expert level knowledge in their subject matter. I had training from Matt Baxter and Henry Howes, these guys make the course consistently fun and engaging. You’re in safe hands at MRS Southampton.

Great experience doing my STCW courses with MRS - Matt and Henry were great and the whole team were very friendly. Special credit to Matt: amazing teacher and keeps it fun while also educational. The courses were very well formatted and executed (especially with the practical elements eg. Survival Training and Fire Fighting). A very informative and efficient week, thank you so much! :)
