Andy Watson has over 15 years’ experience in emergency response, training, and leadership. He was instrumental in establishing MRS Training & Rescue's Aberdeen centre, setting the standard for training and rescue services in the area.

Meet Andy Watson, Operations Manager, Aberdeen Centre

Andy Watson is a second-generation member of the MRS Training and Rescue family, raised around Mines Rescue stations. He officially joined the organisation in 2008, seizing the opportunity to combine his family heritage with his passion for safety.

Initially serving as a Rescue Operative and Instructor, Andy delivered training courses in areas such as Confined Spaces, Working at Height, Emergency Response, and Mines Rescue. His hands-on involvement with high-risk industries, including Oil & Gas, Energy, and Construction, provided him with invaluable experience in real-world emergency scenarios.

In 2019, Andy transitioned into a management role at the Fife Training Centre, where he honed his leadership skills by overseeing daily operations, staff management, and compliance with SHEQ standards. His expertise in quality assurance and stakeholder engagement prepared him for his most significant challenge to date—leading the establishment of MRS’s Aberdeen centre.

Tasked with developing the facilities, staffing, and resources, Andy has ensured the centre’s success, cementing MRS Training and Rescue’s presence in northern Scotland.

"Attended a course on Confined Space entry management; Andy the instructor clearly demonstrated a fantastic knowledge on the subject with a wealth of experience and looked after us very well over the 2 days. The most personable training experience I’ve had with offshore training courses, and genuine desire to help with our specific facility needs." - Liam Morris

Great course, great venue, so much better than using that crappy portable tunnel thing, get rid of it. Instructor was so nice, put you at ease, great presentation work and made it easy to follow. Very enjoyable.

I attended Emergency First Aid Course. The trainer Dale was fab, made everything easy to understand and great knowledge too. Good to practice CPR, Defib and bandaging techniques too. Thanks very much - will definitely be back again when due.
