Meet Rob Tune, Lead IQA, MRS Training & Rescue HQ
Rob Tune is the Lead Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) at MRS Training & Rescue, where he has been a dedicated member of the team for 14 years. His expertise spans a wide range of high-risk industries, including mining, water, energy, chemical, oil, gas, and nuclear. Rob is known for his ability to bring theory to life through engaging real-world anecdotes from his extensive field experience.
Rob began his career as an apprentice in mechanical engineering, remaining with the same company for 14 years before transitioning to Mines Rescue in 2010. Joining as a Rescue Operative and Trainer at Kellingley Rescue Station, he gained hands-on experience in mines rescue, confined spaces, first aid, and general health and safety. Over the years, he delivered training in these disciplines and undertook diverse responsibilities such as Draeger Breathing Apparatus engineering, gas monitor calibration, risk assessment, and method statement development.
In 2018, Rob moved into Quality Assurance, taking on the role of HQ IQA. Collaborating with the then Lead IQA, he worked to standardise training and assessments across MRS sites. His contributions were instrumental in creating a more uniform approach to quality, and in 2020, he was promoted to Lead IQA.
Under Rob’s leadership, the HQ IQA team expanded and evolved into a dedicated Education Department, taking on broader roles and responsibilities. Today, Rob oversees training standards, course development and quality assurance for MRS Training & Rescue, ensuring a consistent and high standard across all operations.
