About Rhondda Cynon Taff
Confined Space Facilities:
Our Rhondda training centre features a network of dedicated confined space vessels and crawl spaces with various entry points, designed for realistic training scenarios.
Originally used to train underground miners and later the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) fire service, these spaces have been tailored to meet confined space training standards for multiple industries.
The tunnels include:
- Walkways
- Boxed twin crawlways
- Shafts
- Multi-level sections
To enhance realism, the environment can include poor visibility, obstructions, alarms, artificial smoke, and industrial sounds — all within a safe, controlled setting.
Working at Height Facilities:
We provide a state-of-the-art, 5.5m-tall indoor scaffold system, allowing year-round working at height training. The system includes:
- Floor-to-ceiling ladders for ascending, descending, and ladder rescue drills
- Trap doors
- Gates
- Hatches
- Guard rails
- A sloping roof.
Additionally, the setup features a 2.5m-wide vertical opening and a separate shaft for stretcher and suspended rescue training, simulating industry-specific scenarios with precision.
Tank Entry and High-Risk Rescue:
Our facilities also include tank entry areas, designed to replicate confined environments where high-risk or rescue activities may be required.
Wind Turbine Training:
Our mock wind turbine, complete with a hub and nacelle, is purpose-built for delivering training courses tailored to the wind turbine and renewables industries.
