This is an inspection of an old limestone mine at Dudley Zoo by our team at our training centre in Rawdon near Swadlincote. The mine was converted to a storage cavern in WW2, with works carried out in 1993 to stabilise the roof, floor and sides.

This is the first inspection since then.

After the initial inspection by the Rawdon MRS Rescue Team, Council Dignitaries, a Bat Ecologist and other experts were taken through as visitors.

The ultimate aim is to open the cavern as a tourist attraction
