MRS Training & Rescue’s instructors from our centre in Houghton near Newcastle, and from Crossgates near Fife in Scotland, are currently working in Ghana. They are providing primary response rescue teams for all confined space entry operations and working at height operations for Modec, a large Japanese oil & gas company, for whom we have carried out rescue cover and emergency response training previously.
A few months ago we trained over 30 Modec candidates in high risk confined spaces rescue and rescue from height, these candidates travelled from Ghana to Crossgates to undertake the training at our purpose built training centre.
Whilst they were over we held discussions about a range of safety support that MRS could provide during a major shutdown that they had planned on one of their Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels (FPSO’s) situated off the coast of Ghana.
We are now providing a range of safety services during the maintenance shutdown on the FPSO. Our primary role is to provide the initial immediate emergency response in the event of any confined space or working at height incidents. Whilst on standby however we are also providing a range of additional safety support services to the client, to provide them with additional value. These additional safety services include delivering a range of Health & Safety related training, servicing safety and rescue equipment such as breathing apparatus and gas monitors, carrying out safety audits and inspections, developing risk assessments, undertake gas testing and issuing gas free certificates, providing medical support to any person suffering injury or illness and carrying out rescue drills to prove the effectiveness of rescue arrangements.
