Requalification Certificates & COVID-19

Renewing Certificates & Tickets (COVID-19)

Many health and safety awarding bodies have extended their certification (tickets) renewal terms because of coronavirus (COVID-19). We list the renewal terms and dates by awarding body below:

City & Guilds - updated 30 October 2020

City & Guilds allowed certificates that expired after the 1 March 2020 to continue to be valid until 31 December 2020 to allow delegates the opportunity to requalify once back at work.

Global Wind Organisation (GWO)

The GWO extended certificates for 60 days, until the end of this year. Candidates just need to ensure they take any refresher courses within 60 days of its expiry.

EU Skills

All EUSR PLUS registrations that expired between 27 March and 30 June have been automatically extended by three months. Any that expired after 30 June have also been given an extension and now expire on 30 September 2020.

PASMA has offered a 90-day extension to current cardholders. But you do need to book onto a future training course and complete the theory part of the course online. Then the validity of the card will be extended until you are to complete the practical section at a registered training centre.

First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid Certificates

Our first aid courses are accredited by MP Awards and in line with the HSE have advised that First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid certificates that expired after 16 March 2020 can remain valid until 31 October 2020 or 6 months from date of expiry, whichever is later - to allow renewals to be completed in the normal way.

In addition, in recognition of local lockdowns and other COVID related situations, instead of the one month window usually allowed to complete a requalification course when a certificate has expired, delegates now have until 31 March 2021 to requalify.

To qualify for the extension, employers must be able to demonstrate that they have made every effort to get the training completed and that they maintain an appropriate level of first aid cover for their business needs.

Any certificates that expired between 9 March and 31 July 2020 are eligible for a 6-month extension. But any that expired after 31 July 2020 must complete their renewal under normal conditions.

The renewal window for the CCNSG card has been extended from 3 months after expiry to 6 months for any cards that expired on or before 31 August 2020. If your CCNSG safety passport expired after this date you have the normal 3-month window to renew.

CITB Site Safety Plus (including TSTS) - updated 27 October 2020

Anyone whose certificates expired after 15 March 2020 has until 31 January 2021 to sit a refresher course.
