Our training centre in Knottingley, West Yorkshire, recently welcomed members of a voluntary search and rescue team - Lowland Rescue.
They are a national organisation affiliated with ALSAR and have memorandum of understanding with local police forces to assist with the search and rescue of missing, despondent and or vulnerable members of our society.
Lowland Rescue members are regularly called upon to give up their spare time to help people in need and will cross boarders to work nationally, bringing together specialist resources such as:
- Swift water rescue
- Search dogs
- Digital mapping
- Medically trained personnel
- Specialist vehicles
We introduced 19 members of their team to our services and training facilities, and ran a mixture of theory and practical exercises, covering issues which could affect members carrying out their much needed work. These included spinal immobilisation and common gases and their dangers.
