MRS Training and Rescue acknowledge that many confined spaces have vertical entry and egress, and therefore the most efficient way to extract a casualty in the event of an emergency might be through rope rescue.
As such, all rescue workers are internally qualified to a recognised standard and periodically assessed for competence as part of our competence management system. We also employ specialists across the business that have the International Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) Level 1-3 qualifications. Our nine sites have Working at Height facilities that allow us to practice a range of key skills across a range of situations in simulated environment.
As part of the pre-mobilisation phase for any on-site job, MRS Training & Rescue produces a risk assessment and method statement that deals with the most efficient and effective way to rescue a person from a confined space. If this involves a rope access solution, MRS Training & Rescue will ensure equipment is made available and suitable anchor points identified ahead of the planned work activities.
Over the years, our experience has led to us using a more mechanised solution for rope rescue, we have found that by adopting these types of solution, we are able to deploy more quickly with less variability in the approach.
