Advanced Working & Rescue From Height Training Course

This training course provides delegates with detailed knowledge and understanding of safe working and rescue from heights. A combination of practical and theory covers a relevant topics - which include:

  • Working at Height Legislation
  • Risk assessments, hazards and control measures
  • Fall prevention and fall arrest
  • Working at height equipment (harnesses, fall restraint, work positioning & fall arrest)
  • Safe assent and decent (ladders, scaffolding, towers etc.)
  • Rescue from height (conscious and unconscious casualty)
  • Rescue equipment (casualty immobilisation devices, stretchers, descenders etc.)
  • Rope access and rope rescue
  • Rescue plans

The practical elements of this Advanced Working & Rescue from Height training course training take place on purpose-built work at heights training facilities. Candidates are continually assessed throughout the course and will complete a short multiple-choice paper, in order to measure the attainment of objectives.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course delegates will be able to

  • Understand the main principles of health, safety, environmental legislation and approved codes of practice for working at height
  • Assess and recognise hazards and risks
  • Learn the methods of reducing risk and injury including the hierarchy of controls
  • Know the types of personal fall protection systems and the differences between fall arrest, work restraint and work positioning (Including anchors & lifelines)
  • Give an appreciation of procedures for rescue, emergency at height or other incidents
  • Demonstrate competency when planning work from suspended lines.
  • Understand the safe use of mechanical descenders, secondary backup lines, edge protection
  • Demonstrate a safe working approach to setting up work positioning equipment including mechanical descenders and secondary backup lines
  • Demonstrate the procedures for rescue, emergencies at height or other incidents.
