This Level 3 Award in Understanding Planning, Supervising, and Managing Working at Height is tailored for individuals in supervisory or managerial roles within industries that commonly practice working at height. These include construction, utilities and facilities management, among others.
It provides the knowledge required to plan, supervise and manage work at height. It covers health and safety and regulatory requirements, selecting and planning staff and equipment, producing work schedules and site supervision.
It is taught at our training centres across the UK – and is available as a City & Guilds qualification (6144-31) for an additional fee of £60.
Due to the nature of the training course and the emphasis placed on communication, there is only a provision for the assessments to be undertaken in English. Therefore, candidates for this type of training must be able to understand and speak the English language.
This training course is will provide the knowledge required to plan, supervise and manage work at height. It will cover issues such as selecting contractors, staff, equipment, rescue planning and relevant health and safety.
By the end of the course, candidates will:
- Understand the principles of work at height
- Understand the requirements of a workplace health and safety risk assessment
- Understand the factors that influence selection of work at height equipment.
- Know factors that influence the selection of staff and contractors for work at height
- Understand planning considerations for work at height
- Understand the supervision and management of work at height.

This course is taught by highly experienced instructors who have extensive knowledge and experience of working at height.
The majority of our trainers are also real-life rescuers who have been part of emergency operations in the UK and around the world.
Delegates need to pass a written test and a practical assessment to pass this course and receive certification. Those who complete the course can choose to receive an MRS Training & Rescue certificate or, for an additional fee, a City & Guilds certificate. The MRS Training & Rescue certification aligns with the City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Understanding Planning, Supervising and Managing Working at Height (6144-31).

What time does the course start and finish?
Courses start at 8.45 am and finish at about 3.30 pm
Do I need to bring PPE?
No. PPE Is not required for this course.

Course materials, refreshments and a light lunch are provided.
How long does it take for certificates to arrive?
MRS certificates are emailed within a week of the course being completed. City & Guilds certificates are emailed as soon as we receive them (usually within 2 weeks).
When will I receive my course instructions?
Joining instructions are sent by email – which are usually received on the same day but always within 48 hours of booking.
Can I change my booking?

Yes, free parking is available at all our UK training centres for course candidates.
