This First Aid course is part of the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) training portfolio, which is specifically designed for those who work in the global wind and renewable energy industries.

This course provides delegates with the skills and knowledge they need to administer safe and effective first aid in onshore and offshore wind turbine environments. in accordance with legislative requirements and emergency response training requirements.

This course is part of our full 3.5 day Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Safety Training Package.

Due to the nature of the training course and the emphasis placed on communication, there is only a provision for the assessments to be undertaken in English. Therefore, candidates for this type of training must be able to understand and speak the English language.

On this GWO First Aid course, delegates will learn the knowledge and practical skills they need to be confident first aiders at work, in a wind turbine environment.

This course is a combination of lectures, demonstrations and practical tasks (i.e. demonstrating CPR using an AED). Learners are continually assessed during practical sessions.

After completing this course, delegates should be able to:

  • Act independently in recognising, assessing, and prioritising the need for basic first aid and providing lifesaving first aid until the casualty can be handed over to the next level of care in case of an incident in the wind turbine industry/WTG environment.
  • Take responsibility for recognising their limitations as a basic first aider, calling for help and enable evacuation off the casualty in case of an incident in the wind turbine industry/WTG environment.

This course is taught by experienced and highly trained instructors – all of whom have completed GWO assessor awards.

The majority of our instructors are also real-life rescuers. This means they have real emergency first aid experiences they can recall and use as part of the training – bringing it to life.

On successful completion of the course, we upload details to the WINDA portal: Global Wind Industry Training Records Database and delegates can access this using their WINDA registration number.

Owen Mason, RSA, Training at Cowdenbeath
Have attended many first aid at work courses over the years, the one provided by MRS is excellent. The real-life experiences shared on the course show this is not just held by a trainer but someone who is very experienced and understands how someone feels.
