This 2 day Live Online Medium Risk Confined Space course allows delegates to complete the theory section of this course in a virtual Microsoft Teams classroom, and the practical section at one of our 7 training centres located throughout the UK. It is available as a City & Guilds Working in Medium Risk Confined Spaces Level 2 Award (6160-02) for an additional fee of £60.

We have developed this 2 Day Live Online Medium Risk Confined Space course for those who wish to reduce social contact and travel requirements. Those who choose this course will complete the theory section of this training in a virtual classroom and the practical training elements at an MRS Training & Rescue centre of their choice.

The theory section of this course will be delivered to delegates within an online video Microsoft Teams classroom environment. Within this virtual classroom they will be able to learn as they would in a physical classroom – asking questions and interacting, without the need to travel to a centre to complete this training in person.

After the theory section of this course is completed, delegates would then be required to complete the practical training section of this course within 2 weeks.

Due to the nature of the training course, and the emphasis placed on communication, there is only a provision for the assessments to be undertaken in English. Therefore, candidates for this type of training must be able to understand and speak the English language.

As with our existing 2 Day Medium Risk Confined Space course, this course covers what you need to know to work safely in a medium risk confined space.

This course has been designed to be as close to our existing 2 day course as technology will allow. Theory content is delivered by an experienced and qualified trainer via a live online Microsoft Teams video call – who will have the ability to provide support and guidance throughout. Delegates can interact in real-time with the trainer and other delegates on the course. The course will also feature engaging and interactive polls, quizzes, and chat.

Candidates will learn how to:

  • Prepare to work safely in medium risk confined spaces

  • How to enter and exit confined spaces safely

  • Prepare and use escape breathing apparatus (to manufacturer’s specifications)

  • Use equipment and tools safely

  • Follow procedures and safe systems of work

  • Deal with emergencies

  • Apply industry standards for working in medium risk confined spaces

This course is taught by our highly trained and experienced instructors. All our trainers have real-life experience of working in hazardous environments – which allows them to understand the issues and working conditions candidates might face.

Many of our trainers are also real-life rescuers who attend emergencies across the UK and around the world.

At the end of the second day, delegates need to pass a written test and a practical assessment to receive certification. Candidates can choose to receive an MRS Training & Rescue certificate or for an additional fee, a City & Guilds certificate.

The MRS Training & Rescue certification aligns with the City & Guilds Level 2 Award (6160-02).

Certification lasts for 3 years. If you’re looking to renew your certification, you can opt to take one of our MRS Training & Rescue certificate refresher courses. If you require a City & Guilds certificate you must take the full course again.

Yes – MRS Training & Rescue is a CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO), and this course qualifies for the Tier 1 CITB short course duration grant (£30). If you’re already registered with CITB we do all the necessary paperwork for you, so you automatically receive the payment.

Because the live virtual classroom day does not have any space restrictions, we are not restricted to the number of people we can train. However, to ensure delegates can ask questions and interact with the trainer at all times, we expect to train a maximum of  10 candidates per course. If you wish to train a larger group of employees, contact us to learn more about our bespoke training courses and on-site training units.

1 trainer to 10 candidates (1:10):

Yes, for day 2 – all candidates are required to bring the following for practical exercises:

  • Hard hat
  • Overalls
  • Safety footwear
  • Gloves

Course materials and refreshments are provided.

To complete the live virtual classroom day, delegates will require a laptop, computer or tablet enabled with a webcam, speaker and microphone. Whilst a mobile phone can be used, we do not recommend it due to its limited size. In addition, a high speed and reliable internet connection will be needed.

Delegates may need to download Microsoft Teams and save the app to their browser, which is very quick and easy to do. You do not need a purchase a license as you can join as a guest.

MRS certificates are emailed within a week of the course being completed. City & Guilds certificates are posted as soon as we receive them (usually within 2 weeks).

Joining instructions are sent by email – which are usually received on the same day but always within 48 hours of booking.

Yes - subject to our terms and conditions.

Yes, free parking is available at all our UK training centres for course candidates.

I really enjoyed it and concentrated more doing it via live video (which was a good thing! :)) It was good to be able to do the course from home to save travel time and cost, and I thought the slides were well laid out and the videos great. And I passed!
