What is the MATS Group?
The MATS group is an industry forum for owners and operators of masts and towers in the UK used for broadcast and telecommunications. Their main focus is on work at height and radio frequency safety and they aim to create industry guidance for infrastructure owners, site sharers and contractors. Their website provides details of the companies supporting the group along with other information that may be useful.
Is the EUSR MATS approved accreditation mandatory for those who work on masts and towers in any particular sector, such as telecoms?
The EUSR scheme is open to all tower climbers, and both experienced or new climbers therefore, EUSR do not specify that it is for any specific industry.
MATS Group members include: Airwave Solutions, Arqiva, BT, CTIL, EE, KCOM Group, MoD, NATS, National Crime Agency, Network Rail Telecom, O2, Shere Consulting, Wireless Infrastructure Group, Vodafone, Shared Access, Spyder Facilities Ltd and many of these are likely to insist on their climbers holding EUSR MATS registration to access their sites and climb.
