Rescue & Recovery from Confined Spaces Requalification (1 day)

Book from
£166

This Level 3 Rescue & Recovery from Confined Spaces requalification course is for those who need to renew their expiring certification.

Candidates who wish to complete this re-certification course must have already completed the Working in High Risk Confined spaces course or requalification course and hold a valid certificate. For more information, please see the FAQ section regarding pre-requisites.

Due to the nature of the training course and the emphasis placed on communication, there is only a provision for the assessments to be undertaken in English. Therefore, candidates for this type of training must be able to understand and speak the English language.

This course is highly practical – and delegates will learn how to enter and work in a simulated confined space environment – and how to enter and work safely in a confined space wearing respiratory protective equipment (RPE), locating a casualty, treating injuries, loading on to a stretcher and transporting a casualty out of a confined space.

Delegates who successfully complete this course will be able to:

  • prepare and use breathing apparatus
  • use underpinning knowledge for rescue and recovery of casualties from confined spaces
  • use rescue equipment safely
  • enter and exit confined spaces safely
  • prepare to work safely in confined spaces under emergency conditions
  • follow procedures for rescue and recovery of casualties from confined spaces
  • deal with emergencies

This course is taught by highly experienced instructors. All our trainers have worked in hazardous environments – so they understand the issues and working conditions a delegate may face at work.

Many of our trainers are also real-life rescuers who have been part of emergency operations in the UK and around the world.

The Rescue & Recovery from Confined Spaces Requalification course aligns with the City & Guilds. Emergency Rescue and Recovery of Casualties from Confined Spaces Level 3 Award (6150-05 - Water & 6150-55 - Non-Water).

Those who successfully complete this course can choose to receive an MRS Training & Rescue certificate, or for an additional fee – a City & Guilds 6150 certificate.

Certification lasts for 3 years.

Yes – MRS Training & Rescue is a CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO), and this course qualifies for the Tier 1 CITB short course duration grant (£30). If you’re already registered with CITB we do all the necessary paperwork for you, so you automatically receive the payment.

The instructor to candidate ratio of 1:5 (plus a C&G assessor if required).

If you book this course online, you can pay for the course by debit or credit card.

If you wish to pay via an invoice, please enquire about the course and our team will contact you to complete the booking.

What time does the course start and finish?

Courses start at 8.45am and finishes at about 3.30pm

Do I need to bring PPE?

Yes – all candidates are required to bring the following for practical exercises: • Hard hat • Overalls • Safety footwear • Gloves

Are there any pre-requisites?

Yes. Delegates must have already completed the High Risk Confined Space Course or Refresher course and have a valid certificate. Most delegates opt to do the High Risk Confined Space Requalification course and the Rescue & Recovery Requalification course concurrently. If candidates previously completed the High Risk Confined Space course (or Requalification course) several months previously, we strongly recommend they do the full 2 day Rescue & Recovery from Confined Spaces course as there won’t be sufficient time in the 1 day refresher course to cover all aspects of the theory training. In addition, delegates should be clean shaven as facial hair could prevent a good seal between the wearer’s face and the breathing apparatus mask.

What is included in the price?

Course materials, refreshments and a light lunch are provided.

How long does it take for certificates to arrive?

MRS certificates are emailed within a week of the course being completed. City and Guilds certificates are posted as soon as we receive them (usually within 2 weeks).

When will I receive my course instructions?

Joining instructions are sent by email – which are usually received on the same day but always within 48 hours of booking.

Can I change my booking?

Yes - subject to our terms and conditions.

Is there parking?

Yes, free parking is available at all our UK training centres for course candidates.
