This Working at Height & Rescue GWO approved refresher course is for those who have completed the 2 day GWO Working at Height & Rescue course previously and want to revalidate it.

This course is highly practical and includes training on purpose-built working at height facilities.

Due to the nature of the training course and the emphasis placed on communication, there is only a provision for the assessments to be undertaken in English. Therefore, candidates for this type of training must be able to understand and speak the English language.

This 1 day Working at Height & Rescue GWO refresher course reviews and builds on knowledge and skills gained from the full course. It refreshes delegates on the theory and practical skills, like using basic PPE and how to perform a basic rescue from heights safely – in environments such as wind turbines.

The training includes how to use a safe system of work, equipment selection and inspection, the use of tools, risk assessment, emergency procedures and how to evacuate and rescue using industry standing equipment such as:

  • Double twin lanyards
  • Triple action connectors for twin lanyards
  • Work positioning lanyards
  • Full-body harnesses
  • "Fast access" hub/nacelle rescue device
  • Hub rescue device
  • Automatic descender

The topics covered in this course include:

  • Hazards and risks specific to working in wind turbines
  • Working at height legislation
  • Identification, inspection and maintenance of PPE
  • Identification of anchor points
  • Correct use of a ladder
  • Correct use of evacuation devices
  • How to approach rescue situations in wind turbine generators and use rescue equipment efficiently
