This 2-day High Risk Confined Spaces Requalification course offers re-certification of an existing high risk confined spaces qualification. It focuses on refreshing practical skills and knowledge for safe work in confined spaces.

About this course
This training course combines lectures, demonstrations, and practical training within a simulated high risk confined space environment. On this course, delegates must pass practical and written assessments to receive certification.
Those who successfully complete this requalification course will have up-to-date knowledge and skills which enable them to:
- Prepare to enter and work safely in high risk confined spaces
- Enter and exit confined spaces safely
- Prepare and use self-contained open circuit and escape breathing apparatus in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications
- Use equipment and tools safely and in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions
- Follow procedures and work safely
- Deal with emergencies
- Work with others
- Use general knowledge for working in high risk confined spaces and their environments

This course is taught by highly trained and experienced instructors. All of our instructors have worked in hazardous conditions. This real-life experience allows them to understand the issues and working conditions a candidate might face.
Many of our trainers are also rescuers who have attended emergencies across the UK and around the world.
We train a maximum of 10 candidates per course. If you wish to train a larger group of employees, contact us to learn more about our bespoke training courses and on-site training units.

Certification/Accreditation
To successfully complete this course, delegates will need to pass a written test and all practical assessments.
After completing this course delegates will receive an MRS Training & Rescue certificate.
Certification lasts for 3 years.
MRS certificates are emailed within a week of the course being completed. City & Guilds certificates are emailed as soon as we receive them (usually within 2 weeks).

Entry requirements
Delegates must be physically fit for courses involving practical exercises and PPE. Key health conditions to consider include heart disease, respiratory issues (e.g., asthma), high blood pressure, epilepsy, vertigo, impaired limb function, uncorrected vision problems, and any substance dependencies. If unsure, employers should arrange a medical assessment. We reserve the right to refuse training to those deemed medically unfit.
Delegates using manriding or fall arrest equipment must not exceed a weight limit of 127kg (20 stone). Customers may use their own equipment if the assessor confirms it is fit for purpose, properly calibrated, and compatible with course equipment.
Yes. Delegates must be clean shaven when using full open circuit breathing apparatus, as facial hair can prevent a proper seal between the mask and the wearer’s face.
Delegates must provide evidence of a valid high risk confined space certificate. They must also provide photographic ID, such as a passport or driving licence, before completing any course. The legal name on the ID will appear on the certificate.
In addition, all candidates are required to bring the following PPE for practical exercises:
- Hard hat
- Workwear
- Safety footwear
- Gloves
Yes. Due to the nature of the training course and the emphasis placed on communication, there is only a provision for the assessments to be undertaken in English. Therefore English proficiency is required.
