About this course
The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 states, under section 2, that anyone managing confined space entries, including working and emergency situations, must be able to demonstrate competence in identifying confined spaces, carrying our risk assessments, developing safe systems of work, utilising permits and devising emergency arrangements.
This course covers:
- What is meant by the terms ‘confined space’ and ‘specified risk’
- Principle requirements of the Safe Entry into Confined Space Regulations 1997
- Risk assessment requirements under the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations and the associated approved code of practice
- Basic principles of risk assessment relevant to confined spaces
- Permits to work – and why and when to utilise them
- The purpose and benefits of safe systems of work
- Principle requirements of the ‘Emergency Arrangements’ as required under the Safe Entry into Confined Space Regulations 1997
- Principle duties of a person responsible for managing entries into confined spaces
- Preparing relevant paperwork suitable for use in confined spaces

This course is taught by experienced instructors who are experienced at managing confined spaces - with in depth knowledge on risk assessing work activity and developing safe systems of work.
The majority of our trainers are also real-life rescuers who have been part of emergency operations in the UK and around the world.
This course has a maximum of 10 candidates per course - 1 trainer to 10 candidates. If you wish to train a larger group of employees, contact us to learn more about our bespoke training courses and on-site training units.
Certification/Accreditation
Delegates will need to pass all practical assessments and a written test to complete this course.
Upon passing, delegates will receive an MRS Training & Rescue certificate.
Certification lasts for 3 years.
MRS certificates are emailed within a week of the course being completed.

Entry requirements
No - this is a classroom based course so no practical training takes place.
No. Delegates do not need to be clean shaven as this course does not require the use of breathing apparatus.
Delegates are advised to bring a laptop with them.
In addition, delegates must provide photographic ID, such as a passport or driving licence, before completing any course. The legal name on the ID will appear on the certificate.
Yes. Due to the nature of the training course and the emphasis placed on communication, there is only a provision for the assessments to be undertaken in English. Therefore English proficiency is required.
