This 2-day course is designed for those supervising confined space operations, covering essential planning, allocation, and emergency control skills. It is available as a City & Guilds Level 3 Award 6160-05 for an additional fee.

About this course
This training course covers what you need to know to be able to supervise teams working in confined spaces.
Candidates will learn how to:

This course is taught by highly trained and experienced instructors. All of our trainers have real-life experience of working in hazardous environments – which allows them to understand the issues and working conditions candidates might face.
Many of our trainers are also real-life rescuers who attend emergencies across the UK and around the world.
This course has a maximum of 6 candidates.
Certification/Accreditation
Delegates need to pass a written test and a practical assessment to pass this course and receive either an MRS Training & Rescue certificate or, for an additional fee, a City & Guilds certificate.
The MRS Training & Rescue certification aligns with the City & Guilds Level 3 Award (6160-05).
Certification lasts for 3 years.
MRS certificates are emailed within a week of the course being completed. City & Guilds certificates are emailed as soon as we receive them (usually within 2 weeks).

Entry requirements
Delegates must be physically fit for courses involving practical exercises and PPE. Key health conditions to consider include heart disease, respiratory issues (e.g., asthma), high blood pressure, epilepsy, vertigo, impaired limb function, uncorrected vision problems, and any substance dependencies. If unsure, employers should arrange a medical assessment. We reserve the right to refuse training to those deemed medically unfit.
No as this course does not involve the wearing of breathing apparatus.
This course and has a pre-requisite of either a Medium or High Risk Confined Space valid certificate, depending on what Confined Spaces the delegate will be supervising. If completing a City & Guilds course then delegates need a valid Medium or High Risk City & Guilds Certificate.
Delegates must also provide photographic ID, such as a passport or driving licence, before completing any course. The legal name on the ID will appear on the certificate.
In addition, all candidates are required to bring the following PPE for practical exercises:
- Hard hat
- Workwear
- Safety footwear
- Gloves
Yes. Due to the nature of the training course and the emphasis placed on communication, there is only a provision for the assessments to be undertaken in English. Therefore English proficiency is required.
