About this course
This course gives candidates the basic knowledge and skills to prevent fires, assess and respond appropriately to fire situations, evacuate personnel safely, and account for everyone during an emergency. When safe to do so, candidates will also learn how to extinguish small fires using basic handheld firefighting equipment.
On completion of this course, delegates will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the development and spread of fire
- Identify any sign of a fire in a wind turbine environment
- Demonstrate knowledge of the contingency plans in a wind turbine environment, including smoke detection and emergency escape procedures
- Demonstrate correct actions on discovering a fire, including correct operation and fire extinguishing by means of the firefighting equipment in a wind turbine

This training course takes place in state-of-the art wind turbine training environments providing a realistic experience, delivered by our expert instructors who all have regulated training and assessor awards and teach / assess fire training.

Certification/Accreditation
Candidates need to successfully complete a practical scenario involving use of the correct portable fire extinguishers, evacuation in limited visibility and the use of a fire blanket.
On successful completion of the course, we upload details to the WINDA portal: Global Wind Industry Training Records Database - and delegates can access this using their WINDA registration number.

Entry requirements
Candidates should not have any current medical conditions that may prevent them from being able to handle and operate a portable fire extinguisher.
Delegates must provide photographic ID, such as a passport or driving licence, before completing any course. The legal name on the ID will appear on the certificate.
In addition, all candidates are required to bring the following for practical exercises:
- Hard hat
- Workwear
- Safety footwear
- Gloves
Yes. Before the start of the course candidates must register for WINDA: Global Wind Industry Training Records Database and bring along their registration number. Registering with WINDA is quick, easy and free of charge.
Yes. Due to the nature of the training course and the emphasis placed on communication, there is only a provision for the assessments to be undertaken in English. Therefore English proficiency is required.
