About this course
This course teaches candidates how to evacuate the part of the premises they are responsible for should a fire occur. It also teaches candidates how to select and safely operate the correct portable fire extinguisher – all candidates who attend this course will receive practical training on using a fire extinguisher.
At the end of this course, candidates should:
- Know fire triangle and how fires spread
- Know how fires are classed and extinguished
- Identify, select and use a fire extinguisher for the class of fire encountered
- Understand main requirements of fire safety legislation
- Know the relevance of fire risk assessment to a fire warden
- Know the general duties of a fire warden
- Know the duties of a fire warden in the event of a fire

This course is taught by highly experienced instructors, who have all attended and passed regulated training and assessor awards in fire training.
Theory 1:10; Practical 1:10
Certification/Accreditation
To pass this course, candidates need to successfully complete a practical scenario (which includes being able to use portable fire extinguishers correctly) and must pass a multiple-choice test.
After successfully completing this course, candidates will receive a recognised and compliant MRS Training & Rescue certificate.
Certification lasts for 3 years.
MRS certificates are emailed within a week of the course being completed.

Yes. Due to the nature of the training course and the emphasis placed on communication, there is only a provision for the assessments to be undertaken in English. Therefore English proficiency is required.
