Some businesses, depending on the size and type of work, may only need one trained first aider. If the workplace involves more significant health and safety risks such as with machinery or hazardous materials, it needs to be ensured that there are adequate arrangements for first-aid.

For businesses with employee count 25-50, HSE recommends that you have at least one staff member trained in ‘Emergency First Aid at Work’, and for companies over 100 employees to have a minimum of one fully-qualified first aid trainer onsite at all times.

As accidents and illnesses can happen at any time in any workplace, it is the employer’s responsibility to ensure employees can receive immediate attention if needed. This in turn will prevent minor injuries from becoming major ones and can even save lives.

If you aren’t sure if you are providing a safe enough environment for your workers, we also offer an H&S audit that will indicate the gaps in legislation compliance, helping you make positive improvements.
