We are thrilled about the opening of our cutting-edge wind turbine training facility in Tonypandy, Rhondda Valley, South Wales. This purpose-built facility represents a £150,000 investment, solidifying our commitment to fostering expertise in the region's renewable energy industry and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

 

Expanding Our Presence and Heritage

With a rich history dating back over 120 years, MRS Training and Rescue has been a steadfast employer in Wales since our inception. 

Originally established to provide a rescue service for miners in the coal industry, we have undergone a transformation. Now, we are positioned to play a vital role in renewable energy safety training across South Wales and beyond.

Capacity to Propel the Industry Forward

With the capacity to train thousands of delegates annually, our training centre is poised to become a cornerstone of the local renewable industry. It will help It aligns with the Welsh government's ambitious target of achieving 70% of annual consumption through renewables by 2030.

Our State-of-the-Art Training Facility

Offering bespoke wind turbine training, the new facility at our Rondda training centre includes a variety of mechanical, nonmechanical, and electrical training facilities.

Key features include:

  • Ladders for ascending/descending drills with the use of twin hooks, latch way, and rail lock systems.
  • Trap doors, gates, hatches, and guard rails.
  • Sloping and flat roofs with open edges.
  • 24-foot-high, freestanding training tower for suspension, suspended rescue, and casualty stretcher rescue.
  • Climbing and rescue platforms
  • Fully designed nacelle to simulate all access and egress rescue scenarios.
  • Fully accessible facility enabling tension line stretcher rescues.

These appointments were designed specifically to prepare trainees to enter the wind sector with confidence.

Record Growth and Industry Expansion

This significant investment follows a record year for MRS, witnessing an impressive 8.5% year-on-year growth in the first six months of the financial year. 

This expansion complements our well-established provision of health and safety training across various industries, including confined spacework at height, first aid, and fire training.
