MRS Training & Rescue offer confined space consultancy services for a wide range of industries, from assessing spaces to identifying if they are confined spaces, through to creating risk assessments.
The Confined Space Regulations 1997 were created under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (HSW Act) and came into force in January 1998. The regulations apply to all premises and work situations that are subject to the HSW Act within the UK, and to some extent outside of the UK. Under the confined space regulations, entry into a confined space can only be made by a competent person who is trained.
Therefore, if you have a confined space with a specified risk, you must meet the requirements of the Confined Space Regulations 1997. If you can’t avoid entry, you need to ensure that safe systems are put in place that are suitable and sufficient prior to allowing work activities to commence in a confined space.
MRS Training & Rescue are leading confined space training and assessment providers and are approved by the City & Guilds Awarding Organisation, who are approved by Ofqual. Our experts can help you identify and understand confined spaces and the hazards and risks associated with working in them. We can audit the spaces, risk rate the space (High, Medium or Low) and highlight any likely problems that may be caused by their entry point and internal design features.
Developing a plan with the categorised confined space risks can help prioritise where resources are required not only for conducting a specific task within the space but would include entry requirements such as equipment, manpower and what detailed emergency arrangements would be required to extract someone who had become incapacitated
Confined Space Audit System
We have developed a confined space audit system which identifies, records and stores all information on confined spaces by drawing together risk assessments and other safety related documentation. Established for the purposes of assessing areas at a client’s site to determine their status (confined Space/Restricted access etc..) this system has been designed to enable our confined space specialists to provide a detailed audit of those spaces that could be a potential hazard to those entering. Enabling them to capture supporting evidence, comments and photographs to build a complete picture in “real time” as a record of the area being assessed.
Once the information has been collected our auditor (a specialised Confined Space Assessor) will produce a modern, comprehensive document which highlights all of the sites confined spaces and much more information such as:
- Classification of the Confined Space. I.e. Low, Medium or High.
- Type of entry.
- Specified Risks Present.
- Any other additional hazards.
- Equipment that may be necessary prior to and during the Confined Space Entry.
- Suggested Rescue Cover Arrangements.
The completed document produces a record per space of the area along with detailed information, images, manpower and equipment requirements that are needed to enter the area safely.
Drone Inspections
Our internal inspection drone keeps your workforce out of harm’s way and can safely and easily be flown into assets without any human access needed. Allowing our experienced drone pilots to capture every corner of the most complex of confined spaces, from a safe location.
The drone uses cutting edge data capture capabilities that allows us to perform inspections in any space bigger than 40cm in diameter where an inspection is needed.
Inspections can be performed beyond line of sight, and sharp close-up images can be taken behind walls and past obstacles using its wireless transmission and dustproof lighting systems. Enabling us to spot the tiniest cracks, leaks or corrosion.
