What is industrial emergency rescue and response?
Our experience of working across different sectors has shown that, despite all best efforts, things occasionally go wrong. Although we are not a 999 organisation that can just be called out, we do appreciate the potential impacts on a business, and so we can offer the service provisions below, but only by prior agreement/ contract:
- Access to our emergency call-out line, meaning issues can be reported at any time, night and day.
- If an incident requires an immediate response, we will contact our on-call manager.
- The on-call manager will mobilise teams locally initially, then calling on other resources if needed.
- Mobilisation includes people, vehicles, and equipment. All MRS sites operate to the same standards, are trained in the same way, and primarily use the same equipment.
Our size means we can increase the number of people available to support the operation if required.
Onsite, our specialist rescue teams follow the emergency arrangements agreed upon in the Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS). Where an emergency falls outside the scope of the RAMS, our rescue team will conduct a dynamic risk assessment. In the event of a sustained emergency event, we have the resource to provide ongoing support including skilled management to liaise with the emergency services.

Working at Height Rescue
Fully trained and competent providers for at height technical rescue services for industry, ensuring you are safe in our hands.
Rope Rescue
Experts in rope access and rope rescue, able to provide specialist teams and equipment to gain access to difficult to reach areas.
Mines Rescue
Recognised within the Mines Regulations 2014 as a specialist rescue services provider, and part of the national mines rescue scheme, ensuring we manage and maintain a technical rescue and emergency response service.
Tunnel Rescue
Our professional full-time rescue team members are skilled in tunnel rescue and have the capacity and experience to provide specialist rescue services.
Water Rescue
We can provide a water rescue team and boat driver, fully trained in Swift Water Rescue and Flood Rescue Technician, for any work work over or near water
Experience and expertise
MRS Training & Rescue began life as the Mines Rescue Service, with our heritage in rescue from major hazard environments, traditionally mining. Over the last one hundred and twenty years, our fundamental purpose has stayed the same - to keep people safe.

Our operatives have first-hand experience of working in difficult conditions, along with specialist equipment, knowledge and experience.
MRS are still the largest private-sector rescue company in the UK. We have the skills and competencies of a specialist rescue provider as defined within the Mines Regulations 2014. No other rescue company in the public or private sector can compete with our knowledge and experience.

MRS Training & Rescue holds ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001. Our centres are approved for the delivery of courses accredited by, amongst others, City & Guilds, GWO, IOSH, PASMA, Energy & Utility Skills and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

I just wanted to pass on my thanks to you and your respective team who once again supported us so well over the summer as we undertook major refurbishment of the scour valves at Caban Coch. This was a critical project for us and safety on such a challenging job was our top priority. As ever your team did a great job providing critical safe access and emergency plan support – its very reassuring to have you ‘guys’ on site.
We initially engaged with MRS to carry out some high-risk confined space training for the drainage squad we have working on the site. Following on from that training we decided that it would be best to have an emergency standby squad on site while we were installing some deep drainage that had issues with gas ingress into the trenches and manholes. The service provided was very good. The team carried out the role of emergency standby for the drainage squad. They monitored the gas for us each day and stayed with the team throughout the works. The RAMS provided were very concise and were briefed to the whole team involved in the operation prior to commencing. All in all a very good service provided by MRS and I would definitely have no issues with using them again on future projects. Thanks for your help.
The job had some specific risks that could have had catastrophic outcome. Working with MRSL from the early planning stages covered all the potential risks and we had a plan in place should it have gone wrong.
As the maintenance manager of the brewing department at Heineken, Tadcaster, I have dealt with you for several years whereby you have provided rescue cover in all departments from kegging to brewery to the boiler house. During the years I have found you all to be honest, reliable, hard-working, conscientious and courteous. Your attention to detail with providing us with up-to-date risk assessments and emergency arrangements are of a high calibre which aligns with the requirements of Heineken procedures. Having MRS on site gave my staff the confidence to know that should something go wrong, the very best are in attendance to rescue them should it be required.
