MRS Training & Rescue is owned by it’s employees through an Employee Benefit Trust. This means an ‘Employee Council’, which is made up of elected representatives from across the company, works closely with the Board of Directors to make decisions.
We reward progress
Our trainers are all directly employed by MRS
As one of our trainers, and before being allowed to deliver any training, you will undergo an intensive programme where you will learn how to become a trainer and assessor the MRS way.
And as you learn new skills, your salary increases.
Following an initial review of your current training qualifications and competency, the next stage comprises shadowing an experienced tutor delivering courses. You will then enrol onto a Level 3 teaching qualification (to an accredited competency standard). Further teaching experience will be gained by shadowing two experienced tutors on separate occasions. You then will start local delivery of some lessons and only when you have passed a strict assessment, conducted by a qualified internal verifier, will you be deemed sufficiently competent to deliver courses to our customers.
In your first year with us, this training programme typically includes:
- Completing the MP Awards First Aid training certification
- Completing the TAQA Level 3 qualification
- Delivering one training course to the required internal / external standard
- Achieving other qualifications that will allow a progression from training instructor to rescue worker. This includes:
- Completing initial rescue operative training
- Completing the Rescue Worker VC qualification
We will support you and give sufficient time to attend training courses and prepare any portfolios for submission and assessment. There may be some studying and completion of portfolio work in your own time too.
At the end of your first year, or sooner if you progress quicker, and having completed and passed the above, your salary will automatically increase to the next salary band level.
You will also then have the option to progress further and learn new skills to enable you to deliver further types of training, which means your salary increases further. We will continue to support you in this learning and development.
A competitive salary and wide range of other benefits
As you learn new skills your salary increases.
In addition, as a qualified rescue worker you also can earn overtime and on average this equates to around £12,000 pa on top of your basic salary.
As well as competitive salaries we offer:
- 26 days holidays (plus bank holidays), with an additional day after 10 years’ service
- Profit related pay – when the company does well and beats its targets, half of the over performance is split between the employees and half is retained to invest in the business
