The Global Wind Organisation (GWO) has introduced two new training standards. These are Advanced Rescue Training (ART) and Enhanced First Aid (EFA) - our training facility at Crossgates in Fife is one of the first training providers that has been approved to deliver these courses.

As a company who are committed and approved by the GWO to offer the full range of https://www.mrsl.co.uk/training/courses-renewable-industry, we were keen to be assessed for and offer the two new courses.

Wind turbines are often located in remote areas with workers operating at considerable heights, and these factors can cause delays in the arrival of emergency services and medical aid during any sudden case of illness to workers/ injury. It is therefore important that people who work in the wind sector are trained to a higher level of medical care should an emergency arise, and to be able to treat and rescue colleagues who may become ill or injured. Our view is that GWO Advanced Rescue Training (ART) and GWO Enhanced First Aid (EFA) go hand in hand and should ideally be done together so that should an emergency arise, the operative can render the required first aid to the casualty before then embarking on the rescue procedures.

GWO Advanced Rescue Training (ART)

Prior to this being introduced by the GWO, we already had requests from a number of customers for a rescue training course that gave practical advice and knowledge on how to rescue people from difficult areas of the wind turbines such as the hub, nacelle and blades.

We had developed our own course but it was not GWO approved as at the time there was no standard. Having GWO approval now gives us a strong accreditation to this important training course.

This 3-day course covers all areas of a wind turbine and teaches delegates on how to undertake rescue exercises from these areas, using the appropriate safety equipment and rescue techniques. The training consists of two main modules and a single rescuer version of each.

  • Nacelle, Tower & Basement Rescue
  • Hub, Spinner & Inside Blade Rescue
  • Single Rescuer - Hub, Spinner & Inside Blade
  • Single Rescuer - Nacelle, Tower, Basement

MRS Training and Rescue GWO approved WAH Enhanced First Aid Training Course

GWO Enhanced First Aid (EFA)

MRS Training & Rescue have been approved to deliver GWO First Aid courses for many years, so it made complete sense to add the Enhanced First Aid (EFA) course to our portfolio.

The enhanced course trains to a higher level to give the operative the knowledge and skills to save life and give assistance in remote areas using advanced emergency equipment and medical telecommunication. Delegates will learn how to administer safe, effective, and immediate lifesaving and enhanced first aid measures.

Any delegate who has recently completed the two-day GWO First Aid course and has a valid certificate, can complete the EFA course in 2 days by doing a one-day refresher and a one-day enhanced training session - the Enhanced First Aid Requalification training course.

We recently carried out our first ART and EFA courses at our training facility in Crossgates (Fife), so get in contact with us today to talk to us about any training needs you have.
